Department of Science and Environment (DSE), Roskilde University, invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Molecular Biology, with employment from 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Assistant Professor position is a four-year fixed-term appointment, whereas the Associate Professor position is a permanent position.

Department of Science and Environment is one of four departments at Roskilde University. The department conducts basic and applied research within mathematics, medical biology, molecular biology, environmental sciences, chemistry, and physics. Bachelor and interdisciplinary Master programs are offered within these areas.

This Section focuses on conducting research and teaching fundamental molecular biology topics, often with a biomedical or application-oriented approach. The Section conducts research within both eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms, exploring areas such as host-pathogen interactions, antimicrobial peptides, bacterial and human physiology, cell biology, cancer development, structural characterizations of proteins, and metabolic disorders. Their research utilizes a diverse range of molecular and biochemical techniques. The Department provides a well-established shared infrastructure equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including fluorescence confocal microscopy, digital PCR, mass spectrometry, HPLC, NMR, cell culturing, GMO2, and Biosafety Level 1 and 2 laboratories.

The section is characterized by an informal and close collegial environment, including both staff and students and with many research and social activities to strengthen the work environment. Read more about the section at
